Our Partners in Kenya

“I’ve seen and met angels wearing the disguise of ordinary people living ordinary lives.” – Tracy Chapman

With Gratitude

Because of Global Strides and its generous supporters, Agnes Njogo, founder of the Peaceful Home, now knows she is not alone and her children will receive an education. This is the biggest gift of all. Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” And our children now have the opportunity to change their world. While in Canada, Agnes took every opportunity to thank all those involved with Global Strides and I would like to extend to you her thanks and gratitude for your support  year after year. It takes a village to raise a child. Thank you for being part of our village.

Agnes Njogo

Agnes Njogo has been helping children almost her entire life. Through difficult times she helped raise her four siblings while she was putting herself through school. She eventually became a social worker at the government-run Kianyaga Children’s Home, staying there for 25 years. In 2005, the Kenyan government forced its workers to retire. Agnes says: “My life was just beginning and there are children who still need me”. So she decided to create Peaceful Children’s Home, which isn’t government dependent. “Nobody knows exactly what the fate for the kids she has mothered would have been, but we can guess that it would not have been bright,” writes hersister Joy Haviland. “As long as there are people like Agnes and all (her) friends…the world has a great chance to reach even the most destitute. These are the future ambassadors of kindness.”

Duncan Muriaki

The Angels of Hope Foundation in Kenya was founded in 2006 with a purpose of looking after the orphaned children of the Peaceful Children’s Home in Kianyaga, Kenya – founded by Agnes. Angels of Hope founder Duncan Muriuki met Agnes Njogo in 1994 when Agnes was Matron of Kianyaga Children’s home. He continues to support the home annually. Angels of Hope Foundation was created to act as an umbrella for the home and facilitate support. The foundation’s aim was to give the children hope and opportunity, a decent home, education and love…which every child needs. We are indebted to our supporters, largest being Global Strides Charity who have continued to support the daily upkeep of the home and above all, school fees for our 14 children forever changing their lives. To Global Strides… you are God sent. ASANTE SANA! God bless you abundantly.

Thanks to you, Global Strides will continue its work of feeding the body and nourishing the mind so all children can reach their full potential. Thank you for caring and making a difference.
